Dear Dana,
In my opinion, if it is a small table fountain, then you can safely consider it as a decorative piece.
However, avoid placing it at or close to the centre-point of the house.
You can place it e.g. at a corner particularly at the frontage of the house. For example, if you are living in a flat/condominium, it should preferably be placed in the living room closer to the balcony. This is similar also to placement for landed properties.
Try to avoid placing it at the center areas of the house.
