The Qing Dynasty inherited the traditional ideas especially that of geomancy from the past dynasties particularly the earlier Ming Dynasty in choosing burial sites.
These imperial tombs are chosen for their excellent Feng Shui. These are now the burial sites of the feudal emperors and their queens and concubines were usually buried in the same location. This is where the emperor's offspring, officals and subjects often went there to hold ceremonies to pay their respects or to recall their merits and virtues.
